EdTomorrow COPPA Notice for Parents and Schools

This COPPA Notice describes how EdTomorrow handles information when students, including children under 13, use our classroom features. It explains what information is collected, how it is used, how it is protected, and the rights available to parents and schools under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Student-Facing Features

Students may use certain EdTomorrow features in the classroom, including joining a class game at edtgo.com with a game code and a nickname, playing the daily Brain Game on our ad-free games pages, and participating in interactive activities displayed by a teacher. Students do not create accounts or log in. Accounts are for educators and other adults 18 and older.

Information We Collect From Children

EdTomorrow collects only the technical information necessary for a student to participate in a classroom activity. This includes a persistent identifier such as an IP address used solely to maintain a live game connection, and a short, non-identifying value used to limit abuse in class leaderboards. This information is used solely for internal operations of the service under 16 CFR §312.5(c)(7). We do not use it to advertise to children, build profiles of students, contact anyone, or track students across sites or services. We do not require students to provide more information than is reasonably necessary to participate.

No Advertising or Third-Party Tracking

Student-facing pages, including our interactive party games (The Hot Seat, Hunch, Training Trivia), the daily Brain Game, the Brain Games Hub, and the game player, are served without advertising, ad cookies, or third-party tracking tags. No ad network and no third-party analytics run on those pages. The only measurement is our own count of how many times a page is played, which contains no information about the visitor.

Nicknames and Leaderboards

Nicknames entered by students in live games are shown only during gameplay and are not stored after the session ends. We ask students not to use their real names. Class leaderboards show only a nickname or a teacher-chosen class name (for example, "Ms. Hall's 5th Period"); entries reset each season and contain no student identifiers beyond a short, non-identifying value, which is deleted within 60 days. Some games (for example, Training Trivia) also include an all-time high-score board: entries show only the nickname or initials entered and a score, inappropriate names are filtered automatically, and entries are removed upon request.

Teacher Class Lists

Educators with a First Five Plus account may save class lists for classroom tools such as name pickers and boards. These lists are visible only to the educator, are never public, are never used for advertising, and are deleted when the educator deletes them or closes the account. Parents or schools may request deletion at any time.

Mixed-Age Classrooms

When students under 13 and over 13 use the same classroom tools, all student-facing features operate under COPPA's internal operations exception and do not collect personal information requiring parental consent.

Internal Operations Only

Persistent identifiers used for gameplay are used solely to support the internal operations of the service under 16 CFR §312.5(c)(7). They are not used for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking.

Teacher Authorization (School as Agent)

For classroom use, teachers and schools may act as the responsible parties for educational features, consistent with COPPA and Federal Trade Commission guidance on school authorization. Before authorizing use, EdTomorrow provides schools with a description of the categories of information collected through student-facing features and how that information is used. This authorization applies only to uses that benefit the school and its students in an educational context. Any use outside that context would require verifiable parental consent.

Parental and School Rights

Parents, guardians, and schools may review any personal information collected from a child, request deletion of that information, and request cessation of further collection. Schools acting as agents may submit these requests on behalf of parents. Requests may be submitted to info@edtomorrow.com, and we will verify and process them promptly.

Inadvertent Collection

If EdTomorrow ever inadvertently collects personal information from a child, we delete it upon discovery or upon a verified request.
